Power of Nursing poster presented at Gold Humanism Summit/Planetree Conference 2019

Rianna Lloyd, DNP, RN; Director Power of Nursing with RISHI presented: Power of Nursing: An Innovative Strategy to Promote Well-Being and Resilience among Nurse Student and Nursing Faculty in the United States at the Arnold P. Gold Foundation’s Gold Humanism Summit/ Planetree Conference held in Orlando, Florida October 27-31, 2019.

In coordination with Wright State University, the poster highlights an educational program called the Power of Nursing as a means to help nursing students and faculty connect with their personal values and meaning. The course provides the opportunity for students and faculty to promote humanistic strategies within education including: mindfulness practice, reflective practice, journaling, empathy, breaking down bias and promoting personal truth to foster qualities of power and autonomy, courage, voice and healing within the nursing profession. The course is based on the Discovery Model of Learning, created by the founder Rachel Naomi Remen, MD, to set the foundation for a transformational experience among all participants.

The Power of Nursing is a unique, nontraditional course that supplements present nursing curricula in a new and innovative way. The course, first developed in 2013, is growing and spreading throughout nursing academic institutions. If interested in bringing the Power of Nursing to your curricula (educational or organizational) please reach out to Rianna Lloyd, DNP, RN, Director at rianna.lloyd@wright.edu or visit www.rishiprograms.org/pon/.
