Covid-19 Message

RISHI WEBSITE MESSAGE – COVID-19

DATE: April 9, 2020

As you are acutely aware the COVID-19 pandemic has upended everyone’s schedule in health care for multiple reasons.   Also, we are aware that this national and global COVID-19 health crisis is a constantly fluid and evolving situation.

The Ohio Dept of Health Medical Director stated that here in Ohio some models predict that cases may peak in late April to mid-May.  Thus, we made the decision to cancel the May 1-3, 2020 Tending the Flame, (TTF) and July 15-19 Healer’s Art Faculty Development, (FDW) Workshops.

These workshops are not conducive to remote training. Both workshops curriculum rely on an immersion experience of large and small group work to model listening skills, compassionate presence, reflection, and training in self-care tools. Unfortunately, it is difficult to offer this experience via an online platform.

This is a time when health care professionals, residents, and students will be faced with demands coming from everywhere to respond to this crisis.  I do not need to share the list…you know those demands.  Also, as we deal with this crisis we are facing the realization that our colleagues may become ill from COVID-19.  These demands can lead to increased stress mentally, physically, and morally which can lead to burnout.

Now more than ever, there will be a need to create innovative safe spaces for sharing our stories and opportunities for reflection. RISHI will be working to assist you during this process to create those safe spaces.

Wishing you, your families, and your health care team to stay healthy while caring for patients during this COVID-19 health crisis.
