RISHI at Pure Healthcare Held Inaugural Conversations on Death & Dying™ Workshop in October

This year the Remen Institute for the Study of Health and Illness (RISHI) launched a new retreat and training workshop, Conversations on Death and Dying: Reflecting on Our Experiences of Caring at the Edge of Life for hospice and palliative care physicians, oncologists, hospice nurses, social workers, chaplains, and all who care for those at the end of life.

Our inaugural retreat workshop was held October 3-5, 2025, in the beautiful fall setting of the Ohioan in Columbus, Ohio. Eight participants from all over the country joined us for the 2 ½ day event led by Dr. Evangeline Andarsio, Director of RISHI.

One of the participants shared, “Seldom do palliative care and hospice clinicians have in-depth opportunities to reflect with other colleagues on the challenging situations they face daily. Clinicians feel alone in the silence surrounding their cumulative grief and loss … I left this program inspired and hopeful.”

RISHI currently offers a 5-session Conversations on Death & Dying cohort to the staff of Ohio’s Hospice in the South Care Region twice a year, once in the early spring and then in the fall and will secure dates for the 2026 retreat and training workshop soon!
