2021 NATIONAL RISHI CLINICIAN AND STUDENT WELL-BEING RETREAT
Friday, April 16th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
“The Impact of Creativity on Clinician and Student Well-Being”
Virtual Workshop via ZOOM
Do you yearn to feel creative and renewed within a health care environment that often leaves you feeling exhausted, going through the motions, and questioning the meaning of your work? Are you seeking reflection and renewal in your professional and personal life?
This one-day virtual workshop will draw on the award-winning discovery model methods of the Remen Institute for the Study of Health and Illness (RISHI). This workshop offers nourishment and self-care for healthcare professionals and medical/nursing students.
Please join us for an incredibly enriching experience!
Studies support that there are close links between medical practice and artistic creativity. Individuals who engage in both forms of activity find the interaction beneficial. The inclusion of creative arts in medical curriculum not only enrich the experience of medical students during their education, but would also enhance their later well-being, both while engaged in medical practice and after they have retired. Creativity enhances life-long learning, meaning and resiliency in the healthcare professions.
Please join our presenters Evangeline Andarsio, MD, RISHI Director, Jonathan Pincus, MFA, and Mary Pat Thomas, MS, RN, AHN-BC for an exploration of the impact of creativity in clinicians and healthcare professional students’ well-being that will enable you to:
-
- Identify the importance of ‘meaning’ in finding satisfaction and fulfillment in daily work.
- Explore the role of creativity in clinician and student well-being using reflection, experiential exercises, art, symbolism, narrative, journaling, and generous listening within small and large group sharing.
- Identify ways in which creativity can provide valuable observational/reflective tools for healthcare professionals to enhance patient communication, empathy
and resilience. - Describe how creativity can improve the work/life experience of healthcare professionals.
- Enhance compassion, resilience, and the meaning of your work through the creation of a personal narrative or
collage piece. - Experience the power of generous listening and community within small and large group sharing.
